Thursday Oct 3, Esposende to Viana do Castelo

Hotel “Enjoy Viana”

So, the last 2 days we were walking on those boardwalks up north, but then a normal route replaced the wooden boardwalks.

We saw already people walking with their phones in their hands. On the road we noticed 2 opposite indications of the Camino where to go next. But no indication of the name of that route, as there are three Caminos crossing each other. The Coastal, The Spiritual and the Central Camino. So this is very confusing and everywhere you see people with their phone in the hand, looking to see where the app is taking you.

As you don’t know exactly what to do, you decide to take a route, some other people take a left turn and you take the right turn, however you don’t see them anymore.

We had the same problem, once we made the decision we had to walk to the right , but ended up walking on the highway for at least 4 miles.

Finally, we got to the hotel and saw other pilgrims who encountered the same problem we had.

The yellow arrow follows the route to Santiago.
The blue arrow follows the route to Fatima.
